Temporary Chinese Driver's License application

Temporary driving permit is issued to foreigners who have a valid foreign driving license, and hold a valid China visa with a permitted stay of less than or equivalent to 90 days. The valid period of the temporary driving permit corresponds to the permitted stay stated on the applicant’s visa. ‘International Driving Permit’ is not accepted for the China temporary driving License.

Document required by our service:

1. Valid ID

  • Passport with a Residence Permit issued in Beijing (with a validity of less than or equivalent to 90 days) OR
  • Passport with a China Visa (with a permitted stay of less than or equivalent to 90 days) OR
  • Passport with a resident permit issued out of Beijing and Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in    Beijing (with a validity of less than or equivalent to 90 days)

2. Valid foreign driver’s license
3. Three 1-inch color photos with white background

Full License Conversion

If you have a valid foreign driver’s license with other required documents, you may convert it into a Chinese driver’s license with the corresponding type of vehicle(s) as listed on your foreign driver’s license by passing the relevant test(s).
If applying to drive large-size passenger vehicles more than 9 seats, you need to book a road test; The theory test is computerized and available on every week. Language versions are available in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Japanese and Korean.
The tests can be re-sat once. If the testee fails the test twice, he/she has to re-apply. The practical test must be reserved 20 days later, within validity period of ‘Driving Test Permit’, any test that was passed serves as the applicant’s current status.

  • Passport with a Residence Permit (with a validity of more than 90 days) issued in Beijing, Registration form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in Beijing OR
  • Passport with a China Visa (with a permitted stay of more than 90 days) and Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in Beijing (with a validity of more than 90 days)

2. Valid foreign driver’s license
3. Health certificate issued by an approved hospital
4. Four 1-inch color photos with white background

Chinese driver's License Renewal

Document required by our service:

1. Valid ID

  • Passport with a Residence Permit (with a validity of more than 90 days) issued in Beijing, Registration form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in Beijing OR
  • Passport with a China Visa (with a permitted stay of more than 90 days) and Registration Form of Temporary Residence issued by a local police station in Beijing (with a validity of more than 90 days) OR
  • For employees of foreign embassy, consulate and international organization’s China office: valid identification document issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P.R.C.

2. Valid China driver’s license
3. There 1-inch white background color photos for renewal, A 1-inch white background color photo for reviewing

Processing time: two working days

Chinese Driver's License Replacement

Replacement is available for the China driver’s license in case of loss or damage

Document required by our service:
